What an adventure to watch this wonderful old cabin take shape.  I hope that for all that enjoy a moment in time, can come by to sit a spell with us.

Decoration Day

Today,  Louis and I took Mom to Decoration Day at Jones Hill Cemetery.   My forefathers and their families have a stone that marks their life for us to remember.  My personnel memories are still fresh of Grandmother and Grandaddy Patton, Betty, Uncle Johnnie, and  Dad.  This day was so important to Daddy  and becomes more important to me with each stone we erect to remember.   Here are some reflections of the day.

Brick layers on Hold

Two sides of Springland is bricked, but we had to put a hold on progress because foundation rock has not arrived for the front of the house.  Louis, has been busy inside with his detailed projects that make for a very sound house.      Two chimneys are finished with two more to go.  Slowly, but surely, one day at a time, we are headed to the finished line.  Pray for us!

COWS, LOG CABINS AND YOUNG MEN LEARNING A TRADE

Louis and I went back to the old home site of our cabin to pick up close to  200 year old rock.  One entrance to Mr Hyde's farm goes over a creek with a wonderful old bridge adorned with a canopy of trees.  For some reason this spot took me back to my Grandad Patton's farm as a child when excitment in a child's life was the smell of silage, grazing cows, milk machines,  and hard working men.  Looking at the home place and remembering what it was a few weeks ago, made me sad.  Things do not stay the same and that childhood and Granddad's farm are gone, too.  Then, I looked at Jeremy,  and see a young boy learning from those who know how to WORK and I see this wonderful cabin coming to life again because of a man who has been taught this dying art  and who is now teaching this generation.  Thank you Jimmy, Thersa,and Jeremy for your hard work and for keeping history alive. 

From the white house to the brown house

This is truly a big change in the looks of things.  Hope it turns out, OK.  These brick layers are unbelievable.  What a talent to get 40 thousand brick on straight.  No turning back, now.  Springland is Brown!

Daughter plans Mother's Day

My wonderful daughter treated us with a  wonderful lunch for Mom, Merry and I and of course Lou, Terr and Patrick. The lasagna, salad, and chess squares were delicious, and thoroughly enjoyed by all.  Beautiful lily's from Chad and Rob to plant at the cabin and  wonderful gifts for each of us Mom's.  Felt like and was a very special day, even to Abby letting me put one more bonnet on her, as I did so often, when she was my" little gurl".  Thank you, Abby,  for your love.  It was a wonderful blessing 25 years ago when I had my girl. 

The Croft's at Springland

                                                                                                                                                      Thanks to Hugh and Natalie, Louis and I entertained Mom, Merry and Terr at Springland today.  After looking at the 'building of Springland', we made coffee in the camper and enjoyed the beautiful day.  Merry and I took our lessons from Dad and built a bench so everyone would have a place to sit.  He's specialty was always making something out of nothing so we try every chance we get to show off what he taught us.  We ended the day with three cooks in the kitchen at Racquet Club and took nothing and made a great meal.  Mom taught us that! 

Mother's Day

The great blessing of my life has been my children.  I want you to know I am so honored to be your Mother and Grandmother and I am so proud of each of you.  Thank you Mom, for always being there for me and listening to all the good and bad of my life.  Chad, Lisa, Rob, Abby, Kyle and Gaege, I love you all so very much.

Little House on the Springs

This cabin is coming back to life.  I hope we can continue to give life back  with the  making of our own memories inside these old walls. When  life was simple. home was everything and a fire in the chimney brought everyone close on a cold winter day.  

Enjoying Mom

Mother just thinks she is sick, but, if truth be known, she is out partying ever chance she gets.  Our first Porch Party at Springland, the Ladies Luncheon at church and tonight. dinner to celebrate, Louis and I, anniversary.  Just say the word and she will come and  be the life of the party.  It's not the same with out her.  Thanks, Mom, for always sharing the happenings of our lives and for being my Moma!  I celebrate you on Mother's Day and every day.

Always on my mind

As you all might know,  Rob has been traveling in Asia since January.  As Mother's Day apporaches,  I realize each of my children are so very special.  I also realize that a mother's love goes wherever they are.  I miss you Rob, and  the yellow ribbon is waiting for July.  I am so blessed that you are my son.

Days to Remember with Loving Memories

My big sister, my wonderful Dad, are thought of, especially this Birthday week, as we think of all the special times we had with them.  Louis and I will be celebrating our seventh  anniversary this Monday.  What a beautiful wedding  day that was seven years ago, full of family and friends at our  Mountain Falls.   I am so glad Dad and Betty were part of the reason it was so perfect.  A  very special memory of  that day are my wonderful Sons giving me away.  I thank God for all my blessings and these special memories.
